Famous Tourist Attractions in Morocco

We start our journey in the vibrant city of Marrakesh, a city known for its bustling souks and beautiful gardens. Sam recommends visiting the Bahia Palace, Majorelle Gardens, and Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. If you have more time, you can also visit the Medina and the Mellah in Essaouira, about a two hour drive to the coast. Here, the Medina, with its picturesque lanes and the Mellah, the Jewish quarter, are full of history and color, making them a must-see.

Next, we move to the imperial city of Fès, where we explore the wonders of the tanneries, the Royal Palace, the pottery and ceramic area, the Jewish quarter, Madrasa de Bou Inania, the Nejarinne Museum, and the Marinid Tombs. Each of these places is steeped in history and showcases the rich cultural heritage of Morocco. Sam also recommends visiting Meknes, the fourth imperial city founded by Moulay Ismail in the 17th century, which is home to beautiful attractions such as the Moulay Ismail Mosque and Bab Mansur al-'Alj gate.

Merzouga, a small town in the Sahara Desert, is our next stop. Here, the sound of Gnawa music fills the air, creating a vibrant atmosphere. From the Waziz to the Khettara irrigation system, to the mesmerizing sand dunes and underground water, Merzouga offers a unique and unforgettable experience.

We then explore the stunning landscapes of Southern Morocco, from Midelt to Dadès Gorge, mountain passes and random oases.

For those who have the time, or make it a priority, heading all the way north to Tangier takes you to the gate to Morocco, a mix of different cultures and influences, and a fascinating place to visit. See where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, the Cap Spartel lighthouse, and the American Legation Museum.

We conclude our journey on a poignant note as Sam shares his deeply moving experience delivering aid to villages affected by a recent earthquake. His heartfelt retelling of the gratitude expressed by the locals is a powerful reminder of the spirit of community and resilience in Morocco.

Whether you're a seasoned traveler or planning your first trip to Morocco, this episode provides valuable insights into the country's top destinations. From its vibrant cities to its serene landscapes, Morocco offers an adventure that's truly unforgettable.
