Going Back Home

The past few years have certainly been ones of disruption to all kinds of regular routines and patterns, especially when it comes to travel. People from around the world have gone years without seeing loved ones, or the familiar sights they often return to. Post-COVID recovery is still underway, and it's something that hits home in particular for Azdean, host of the Destination Morocco podcast.

Although Azdean is from Morocco, runs the Destination Morocco tour company and talks about the country all the time on the show, it has been four long years since he has been able to return home to see family, friends, the company's Morocco office and his old hang out spots and favourite places.

Finally, this summer, the return is happening: Azdean and family are spending nearly two months in Morocco, to catch up after a long time away and also to capture all kinds of new footage for the podcast and YouTube channel.

Destination Morocco podcast episode: Azdean Returns to Morocco!

Podcast producer Ted catches up with Azdean, live from a stopover in Frankfurt, Germany, as he makes his way home, and talks about the emotions and excitement of finally getting back.
Azdean speaks passionately about his excitement to experience the country anew, to see how much has changed and how much is still familiar, in a country and culture dating back centuries. They talk about street food in Essaouira and the warm hospitality they are looking forward to experiencing.

An integral part of the Moroccan culture is its music. Azdean shares his personal connection with Berber music, a passion that has been passed down from his ancestors. This cultural aspect is one that as host, he plans to share with listeners in the form of immersive audiovisual content, allowing them to feel as if they are experiencing the sights and sounds of Morocco first-hand.

And if you remember an episode of Destination Morocco from last summer, Azdean's son Imran made his first apperance on the show. You can imagine how excited he is too, and we get to hear it as Imran pops up on the microphone at the airport hotel.
